Our story began in the summer of 2023, when, as part of our Adventure in Ciomad project, we set out to create a board game. Our goal was to use the game as a tool for sharing interesting information about the protected area of Lake SaintAnne and the Mohos Peat Bog. We aimed to present unique and engaging facts rather than simply repeating information copied from a few books. Therefore, while compiling the background materials needed for the game, we explored online resources, libraries, and archives in search of original sources and lesser-known stories.
The protected area of Lake Saint Anne and the Mohos Peat Bog is visited by numerous specialists, and a wide range of scientific research is carried out there. These efforts contribute greatly to our understanding of its natural values and significance. While our organization, the Green Szeklerland Association, cannot directly contribute to scientific research, we can help bring the protected area closer to its visitors by reviving and presenting stories from the past one or two centuries, complementing well-known information with new and often forgotten perspectives.
Over the past few years, we have reconstructed the history of the chapel located on the shore of Lake Saint Anne, written about the dwarf catfish introduced into the lake, explored the story of the tourist lodge that operated there for two decades, and investigated the history of the Mohos Peat Bog, among many other topics. We have also produced several films presenting the protected area, compiled a substantial photo album from historical postcards and photographs, and created numerous educational materials.
