For the past 21 years, the Green Szeklerland Association has been contributing to environmental protection in the region through its various programs and activities. During this time, we have organized countless events presenting the local flora and fauna, discussed waste management and sustainable practices, promoted safe cycling, and regularly led nature hikes and competitions.
The idea of the Green Miercurea Ciuc (Zöldszereda) program was born three years ago, when it became increasingly apparent that we often lacked sufficient information about our own environment. Whether during a hiking trip or at an educational activity held in the city, children—and often we ourselves—would ask questions to which we did not know the answers.
As a result, over the past few years we have collected a large amount of information and source material that has helped us better understand the history of the city, its development, and its growing network of natural and green spaces. Although this work is far from complete, we felt that the time had come to transform the gathered knowledge into a format that is accessible, engaging, and enjoyable to read.
