The Green Szeklerland Association together with the SZKA will start a complex program about waste management within the The Good Idea program. The main goal of the “Ant School: From waste to waste” program is to contribute to the change of the approach about waste management by activities implemented. It is important for the population to see their role in the process and not to wait for others (e.g. offices or organizations) to solve all environmental problems, but also to take part in the protection of their environment on their own ways.
The Ant School has created in the past few years 1,126 pages of free downloadable material and made it available on the website of the program (www.hangyasuli.ro). The material was downloaded 10.722 times so far. In addition to this, 100 more pages of waste prevention and conscious shopping were added. The aim of the two downloadable materials is to encourage teachers to use and present to their classes the content, and promote the importance of the conscious shopping. The materials include a presentation in PowerPoint format. It also contains a test that can be used to check the knowledge of the children before and after the program. Some included games can be printed out as well and can be used as a part of the activity. In addition to these, an animated version of the material was created, which allows more dynamic and interesting presentations.
The members of the association are going to organize presentations between 15 May and 15 June. It will be presented the importance of conscious shopping and waste prevention to the children of the schools from Székelyudvarhely. Teachers can sign up to the program via phone at 0742-125368 or by e-mail to info@zoldszekely.ro. In order to change the mentality of the people about the waste and garbage, it is important for them to know what to do and why. It is also important for them to see through all the processes, to see their part and their task in the big system.
The Green Szeklerland Association will create a database about the waste topic. This database will contain at least 100 commonly asked questions and answers. At the same time everyone is free to ask new questions and we will try to answer those as soon as possible. We will organize two waste collection programs, the first one in May, and the second one in September in several parts of the city. Thanks to our professional partners, you can dispose used cooking oil, paper, plastic, glass and electronic waste. Besides, it is still possible to join to the program of the Assosiation’s Ant bazaar, where anyone can donate their not used items. We will then try to send these items where they can benefit.
